Yud Tes Kislev – Rosh Hashana of Chassidus
In this week’s Torah portion, Vayeitzei, we learn about Yaakov’s journey to Charan, raising his family, the holy tribes of the Jewish people, and battling with the crooked Lavan. Now, the Torah tells us that when Yaakov set out for Charan he had nothing other than his simple walking stick. However, when he returned, he was wealthy both in gashmius and ruchnius. His children were all righteous and he had gained tremendous wealth. The Rebbe explains that the reason for Yaakov’s amazing success was his trust, his “bitachon”, in Hashem. What is bitachon exactly and how is it different from “emunah”? Rabbi Aharon Schmidt, shaliach of the Rebbe in Beit Shemesh, explains.
