Towards 11 Nissan, the Rebbe’s birthday
The Honorable Donald J. Trump
President of the United States
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20500
Dear Mr. President:
I am grateful to have the opportunity to write to you and, first and foremost, once again thank you for your support of the Jewish community – both in the United States and around the globe.
As you know, millions of Jewish people for centuries have been waiting for the era of Ge’ula, in order to stimulate the world forward into a new and, at the same time, natural state of prosperity, justice and goodness, and ultimately eternal life. According to all that we are witnessing in terms of physical and spiritual abundance in the world, the era of Ge’ula is already here.
The 12 of April, 2022 will mark the 119-th birthday of the Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson.
It is widely known that the Rebbe raised the awareness of the G’eula era before anyone else did. As part of this, the Rebbe launched a global campaign to increase humanity’s awareness of the Master of the Universe and observance of the fundamental human laws (a.k.a., Noahide laws) among all people. The Rebbe especially noted the position of the United States as a world superpower – something generally recognized today. He reasoned that America’s rise to greatness is propelled by its essential values of (both printed as mottos on its currency): “E pluribus unum” (“From many, One”) and “In G-d we trust.”
In 1978, the U.S. Congress asked President Jimmy Carter to designate the Rebbe’s birthday as National Education and Sharing Day. Since 1978, Education and Sharing Day has been proclaimed annually by presidents on the Rebbe’s Jewish birthday, recognizing his efforts to promote better education for all American citizens.
As we are approaching this auspicious date again, we would like to suggest enhancing and extending this beautiful tradition by introducing an “Office of the Rebbe” within the executive branch of the American government. We are convinced that this decision will be welcomed by the millions of Jews in the United States. It is also sure to receive warm support from Jewish communities around the world as well.
Establishing the Office of the Rebbe within the White House can be looked upon as a symbolic act of appreciation for his tireless work to promote the same timeless values that have made the United States the greatest civilization on Earth. But it is more than that. It will also reflect the fact that we are entering a new and transformative era that will bring unlimited opportunity for people around the globe, fostering peace, scientific discovery, creativity, and a high standard of living, both physically, but perhaps more importantly, spiritually and morally, thereby fulfilling the destiny of humanity as described by the moral prophets of the Tanakh (Bible).
Instituting the Office of the Rebbe will serve as an official proclamation that the United States government respects these values and is once again leading the way to the new era in human history.
We are sure that the Office of the President of the United States together with the entire United States government will benefit tremendously from this initiative.
Sincerely,
