What are the real channels for livelihood? The Rebbe’s answer:
“… This is an answer to his letter from Tishrey, 27, in which he writes about the situation in the home his sister and his brother-in-law, SheYihyu, which is not as it should be. Obviously, that according with his request I will write a letter with the intention to bring hearts closer to his brother-in-law, SheYihye. But he, in his turn, as well as his family members, should explain to his sister, Shetihye, that when her husband works late and is stuck at the office, it should not be resented. Moreover, one should be happy that he has a source of livelihood, and does his job well and so his livelihood would be safe.
All the above is said about the “intermediaries”, such as the owner of the office or the area of the business, and they are only the channels through which the Creator, Blessed He Be, provides nourishment and sustenance for all. And if so, how much greater should be her joy at realizing that her husband does a good a job as far as the main and only “Owner” of all is concerned. After all, the real channels and the real vessels that the Creator, Blessed He Be, uses to send livelihood, a man asks for in his prayers, when he talks about his needs, – these real vessels are the Torah and the mitzvoth…”
